Stephen said he was kind of tired too so they went up while I locked up. I yelled up to Stephen to pee before he got into bed I didn’t feel like being awaken by a flood that got him laughing and answered ‘Okay Papa.’ I went to the bathroom myself and got into bed. It was Friday I was up before Zachary’s alarm and stayed in bed till it went off. I got up and packed him up while he got dressed it was cold this morning and when I came in from starting his Explorer I was chilled and made him warm me which he had no problem with. I made the oatmeal for Stephen and myself while I waited for the text today it came 15 minutes after he left so either more traffic or a little slick out and I went back to bed. I told him he could wait in bed for me or go down as I washed and got dressed. He went down and got himself some juice. I asked him if he knew what he was going to do today Stephen didn’t know but there was always something to do over there. I asked him what he wanted for supper, he wanted pizza and I told him that would be tomorrow night, he told me he didn’t care then. I figured it would be a good night to get rid of all the leftovers from the past week. The rest of the day flew by without anything unusual happening which is strange for a Friday. Stanley will work Saturday both Jake and Zachary turned the overtime down. Before I knew it Zachary and I were naked on his bed again. Then Stephen says he is going on a trip next week somewhere for work. I made a personal mental note that this kid is really like a sponge and does listen to what we are saying. We finished all the leftovers, the laundry was done and they cleaned up while I started making shopping lists for Sunday morning. Stephen told Zachary that we were going sledding tomorrow. He was beat it was a long hill to keep climbing up in a snow suit and boots. I made sure I talked to him and kept him busy all the way home so he wouldn’t fall asleep. But by the time we got home and got him undressed he ran to the bathroom and went right on the bed and was out. We went down the cellar to work out I got a treadmill and Zachary lifted then we exchanged spots. Zachary found out his dad was leaving on a business trip to Canada for three weeks on Tuesday. He was going over for Sunday dinner tomorrow, I was happy about that and of course Stephen and I were going over for dessert. Zachary ordered our pizzas for a 4:30 pickup. He also got a call from his old boss at Lowe’s evidently he called to ask about what trees were left and they located a tree like mine that was unlit and it was $30.00 before his employee discount so the tree was like $18.00 out the door so we had to stop there on our way to getting the pizza. The boys played video games for a bit and Stephan came and sat on my lap while I finished up the lists. At 3:30 I suggested we go to Lowe’s and get the tree and look around maybe there were other things we could snag cheap. Surprisingly the store was kind of dead; we looked at the Christmas stuff that was left a lot of it was 85-90% off. Zachary pointed out a couple of wreaths that were a great price and he bought them. There really wasn’t anything I was interested in I didn’t use that many mini lights and I picked up a two sets for the mantels just in case. Zachary and Stephen picked out some ornaments for his grandparents. Zachary insisted on paying for everything and it didn’t even come to $45.00 including the tree. He insisted on paying for our pizza too. I told him he didn’t have to, he turned to me and said “I basically live with you for free and what you are spending on food alone it is the least I can do.” I looked at him and asked do you hear me complaining plus you do most of the housework chores and Stephen spoke up and said I do to and Zachary told him yes and appreciates his help. The pizzas were just coming out when we got there and when we got home I put the oven on and threw them in to keep warm. Zachary and Stephen went across the street with Dan’s pizza and then the three of us brought over the tree. The grandparents were very pleased especially Mario he could use his own lights. They wanted to pay and Zachary showed them the price then Stephen and I went to get the ornaments that Zachary had bought for them too. Stephen showed Maria the ones he picked out and she put his name on the box. Then we left so they could eat and before our pizzas got dried out. After all they were in the oven in their boxes I didn’t need a fire. Stephen took care of the boots, gloves, and hats. Zachary the jackets and I got paper plates and water for us. The pizza really hit the spot; the two large except for three slices were eaten. They were cleaning when there was a knock at the back door it was Mario and he came in with a dish of biscotti that Maria had made that afternoon. I offered him a glass of his homemade wine and he refused but Zachary insisted he come in and see my tree in the living room it was the same as the one Zachary just bought them. He told Zachary to take a picture of it with his phone so he could show Maria. Mario says ‘I’m glad I saved all my old lights like these, I am going to use them next year.’ Then he left. Zachary and Stephen were not happy with the biscotti but there were still plenty of cookies left from the other day. But I taught the two of them how good they are if you dunk them in coffee. They split only one between them, and then they ate Stephen’s with milk. I went up to take a shower first and Stephen came up and surprised me a warm towel. Damn they actually do feel good. He was next and we talked about when was the last time he talked to his mother and he told me yesterday while he was at Maria’s he talks to her almost every day there. That was good I didn’t feel too guilty then. Zachary came up and we left him to shower I told Stephen to listen for the shower to stop so that he could run up with a warm towel. Zachary was surprised and thanked him. I said I was going to bed and Zachary said he was also and the little one was already spacing out. I told him to go up and pee and I would be right up. Zachary and I kissed a few times while we locked up and shut everything down. I walked him to his room and gave him a quick peck and said goodnight and Stephen yelled from the bed goodnight. I set the alarm for 6am I wasn’t planning on getting up before then. I reminded Stephen if he woke up and I was gone that Zachary was still here. He turned to me and said ‘Papa I know the drill as far as Sunday’s go you would never leave me alone.’ I know I was asleep before him it had been a long day.
